New England All-Star Honors Go to Four ECAC Hockey Men

ALBANY, N.Y. - Four ECAC Hockey men were recently honored by the New England Hockey Writers, with three named to the All-Star Team, and another earning rookie honors. Quinnipiac's Reid Cashman and Harvard's Dylan Reese were defensive picks, while Dartmouth's David Jones was an all-star forward. Freshman forward Brandon Wong received the prestigious George Carens Award, given annually to the top rookie in New England.

Cashman, a first-team All-ECACHL selection and All-American, led the league in assists (38) and points by a defenseman (41). He also led all NCAA Division I blue liners in points and was third overall in assists. Cashman completed his career as Quinnipiac's all-time leader in games played (151) and assists (125). He ranks seventh all-time with 148 points. The senior also registered 40 or more points in each of his final three seasons, becoming just the 16th defenseman in Division I history to accomplish the feat. Cashman signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs following the season.

Reese lived up to his reputation as a defensive stalwart this past season for the Crimson, ranking fourth on the team with nine goals and sixth with 18 points. He was the league's second-leading goal-scorer among defensemen and tied for fifth among all ECACHL players with eight power-play goals. The Pittsburgh native wrapped up his collegiate career with 21 goals and 40 assists in 121 career games for Harvard. Reese was +36 for his career, earning a positive plus/minus rating in each of his four seasons. He signed a professional contract with the Hartford Wolfpack (AHL) following the conclusion of the season.

Jones was selected to the team after a season that saw the junior lead his squad in scoring with 44 points. He was the ECACHL's scoring leader with 31 points and was a unanimous All-league First-Team selection. Jones was also the first-ever Dartmouth player to be named a Hobey Baker Award top-10 finalist.

Wong erupted onto the scene this year and made an impact both on the league and national levels. He led the ECACHL in goals (27), points (44), rookie scoring (44) and tied for the league lead with four short-handed goals. On the national level, he ranked fifth overall in goals and leads all freshmen in that department. He was also third among all NCAA freshmen in points and was second in short-handed goals. Wong's three hat tricks this past season were also tops nationally.
