Colgate Grad Kyle Wilson Named Hershey Bears' Rookie of the Year

HERSHEY, Pa. - Former Raider Kyle Wilson '06 was named the AHL's Hershey Bears' Rookie of the Year at the team's final home game on Sunday, April 8, at the GIANT Center.

Wilson scored what stood up as the game-winning goal in the third period of Hershey's 3-1 win against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday. He is among the team's leading scorers for the season with 50 points on 22 goals and 28 assists through 51 games. Wilson ranks 12th among the AHL's rookies in scoring, a list that includes former college greats Brett Sterling (Colorado College), Matt Moulson (Cornell), and T.J. Trevelyan (St. Lawrence).

Hershey is in first place in the East Division with three games left in the regular season. The Bears have clinched a playoff spot, and will begin defense of their 2006 Calder Cup as the AHL champion in less than two weeks.
