Four ECACHL Men Named to All-America Teams
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The American Hockey Coaches Association announced this evening (April 6), that four ECAC Hockey League athletes were named to the 2007 RBK All-America Team. The league had three first-team selections and a second-team pick in Drew Bagnall (St. Lawrence), Reid Cashman (Quinnipiac), David Jones (Dartmouth) and Nick Dodge (Clarkson).
Bagnall and Cashman earned first-team defense honors, while Jones was a first-team forward and Dodge was a second-team forward pick.
Bagnall, the ECACHL Player of the Year and Best Defensive Defenseman, led a defense that held league opponents to 2.50 goals per game, while helping his team capture the league's regular-season crown. Overall, Bagnall has six goals and 19 assists on the season. Bagnall had 15 league points from the blue line with five goals and 10 assists. Three of his goals were game winners this season.
This is Cashman's second selection to the All-America team, having been a second-team pick last year. Cashman kicked his play up a notch in the second half of the season and led the ECACHL in assists (38) and points by a defenseman (41). He also leads all NCAA Division I blueliners in points and is third overall in assists. Cashman completed his career as Quinnipiac's all-time leader in games played (151) and assists (125). He ranks seventh all-time with 148 points. He also registered 40 or more points in each of his final three seasons, becoming just the 16th defenseman in Division I history to accomplish the feat. He signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs at the end of the season.
Jones led the league in scoring with 31 points on 11 goals and 20 assists. In 22 games, the junior averaged 1.41 points per game and had two game-winning tallies. Overall, he played in 33 games and has 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points on the season. His points per game average of 1.33 ranks sixth nationally.
Dodge led his team overall with 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists. Nine of his goals this season were game winners. He helped his Golden Knights lead the league in scoring with 3.36 goals per game in conference matchups and 3.49 GPG overall. The junior had 20 points in league games with eight goals and 12 assists.
The RBK All-America Ice Hockey teams are sponsored by RBK Hockey, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
