Two Series Complete in ECACHL Men's Quarterfinals
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two quarterfinal series have ended, and two are going to a third game in the ECAC Hockey League playoffs. With the completion of two series, we know that No. 1 Dartmouth and No. 3 Cornell will be in Albany next weekend for the championship round.
The other two series have No. 4 Harvard and No. 5 St. Lawrence going to a third game, along with No. 2 Colgate and No. 10 Quinnipiac.
Dartmouth advanced to the championship round after downing Yale in two straight games, 5-1 and 3-1.
Cornell, the defending tournament champion, advanced to the championship round with two wins (4-3, 3-2) over Clarkson. Both games went to double overtime, with the first one going 28 extra minutes and the second over 30 minutes.
Harvard won this evening's game 3-2 over St. Lawrence, after falling to the Saints 5-1 in the Friday's opening contest. Colgate rebounded after falling to Quinnipiac 3-0 on Friday night with a 5-3 victory on Saturday to force a third game. Both of Sunday's deciding quarterfinal games will start at 7 p.m.
Although we don't know the other two teams yet, we do know that Dartmouth will play the early contest (4:30 p.m.) and Cornell will have the late game (8 p.m.) in Friday's semifinals. Both semifinals, along with the championship tilt, will be broadcast nationally on CSTV.
