Two ECACHL Men's Teams are NCAA Tourney Bound

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two ECAC Hockey League men's teams received bids to the 2006 NCAA Hockey Championship, it was announced earlier today. The Harvard Crimson and The Cornell Big Red will play in regional tournaments next weekend, looking to advance to the Frozen Four.

The Crimson will play in the East Regional, taking place at the Pepsi Arena here in Albany, while the Big Red will travel to the Midwest Regional at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Games in both of those regionals will take place Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.

Harvard earned an automatic bid to the NCAAs by winning the ECACHL tournament title on Saturday night. Cornell received an at-large bid. Both teams are the No. 2 seed in their regional.

Harvard starts play at 3 p.m. on Saturday against No. 3 seeded Maine. Cornell's game is at 5:30 p.m. that day against No. 3 seeded Colorado College.

The East Regional is co-hosted by the ECAC Hockey League and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Pepsi Arena box office, over the phone by calling 1-800-30-EVENT or online at www.pepsiarena.com.
